Playing 9 Launches Maternity Tennis Apparel
Playing 9, a retailer of maternity athletic wear for active, stylish moms launches maternity tennis apparel for the 2019 season.
Minneapolis, MN December 11, 2018 – When Anna Sabiston was pregnant with her daughter in 2012, she realized that maternity clothes designed to be worn on the golf course did not exist. In 2015, following the birth of her second child, Anna launched Playing 9, a line of maternity golf wear. She sells her products exclusively online and after feedback from customers, recently extended her product line to include tennis apparel.
Women are increasingly active during their pregnancies. In fact, during 2017 Serena Williams won the Australian Open (a grand slam tournament) while eight weeks pregnant without losing a single match. She later posted a video of herself playing tennis while seven months pregnant.
Kristin Horvath, a Playing 9 customer since 2016 noted, “While I aspire to someday have Serena’s tennis game, I am purely a recreational player that enjoys tennis drills on the weekends with my friends. Staying active through my second pregnancy is important to me, and I want to feel confident too. I wore Playing 9 golf clothes during my first pregnancy and was delighted when they launched a tennis dress. I get tons of compliments every time I wear it!”
Sabiston designed the maternity tennis dress to look great both on and off the court. Launched for the 2019 season, the tennis dress is available in Wimbledon white and slate grey. When designing the dress, Sabiston worked with her designer to think through small details to elevate the design, such as the racerback cut and layered skirt, while also making the outfit practical by incorporating a double-lined top for extra support and matching shorts that hold a tennis ball on each side.
Sabiston, who thinks Serena and other professional female athletes that compete and train throughout their pregnancies are role models for moms that want to stay active has her fingers cross for a second pregnancy for Serena in hopes of sending a fashionable maternity tennis dress her way.
